I have been given some FMJ .30 carbine cartridges.  I know not to trust the loading of these so I am pulling the bullets and dumping the powder. Will reload at my leisure. Problem is some of the projectiles are extremely difficult to pull using my RCBS bullet puller setup. The bullet slips out of the collet on the more difficult ones. I employed a piece of galvanized one inch diameter pipe I have as a cheater bar to tighten the collet more than hand tight. This method got a few more pulled but not all. Some still slip out of the collet before pulling out. I noticed that I bent the 1/4 inch steel handle bar on the bullet puller a little with the cheater bar so I had to back off on the force applied. Don't want to damage the tool.  There is no unusual substance holding the projectile in place. I have never seen projectiles so difficult to remove. Suggestions?

If you have a seater die for the 30 carbine, seat them a hair deeper to break the seal....then you'll have a better chance of pulling them.

In my experience: first remove the die, second place a large flat washer on top of the press 3/4" or 7/8", make sure it's fairly stout, third run cartrige up, then grasp the sides of the BULLET with a med sized slip pliers with good serrations on the jaws, 4th use the press handle to pull the bullet, down stroke,  the jaws will tighten extremely well into the bullet. the marks on the bullet are not detremental to accuracy., power doesn't spill,  washer protects the die threads. will post pics if needed

If you have enough to justify it, a Hornady Cam-lock puller is the way to go in my opinion. Adjust the tension by how far the top plunger is screwed down. You will need the 30 cal collet, obviously.

Buy a kinetic puller and use the shell holder instead of the supplied collet.

This makes a world of difference.

Yep,think I'll try the seater die. Less chance of damaging the projectile that way. Geez, why did'nt I think of that?  I've seen that idea before.  Thanks for the replys everybody.
