| Anyone ever use a collet type puller for 9mm LRN bullets? I have a RCBS puller, but it says for jacketed bullets. Anyone have any experience pulling lead bullets? |
| On lead bullets the collet type ( I have the Hornady) will deform the bullet once you put enough tension on it to be able to pull it. You can work with it to lessen the deformation but typically its best to use an inertia type for lead pills. Just pray you don't have to do many of them at once. |

I used to think same concerning pistol bullets and collet pullers.
Bought an RCBS with .308 collet. Liked that enough to buy another for .223. Then one day someone gave me 200 45acp catridges with XTP bullets from a hi-speed progressive operation. Just so happens I know this cowboy pretty well. Well enough to know that box of cartridges was no different than a box of rattle snakes and he'd warned they're might be a problem or three in there. So, I get Midway on the tele and order a collet in .45. Worked like pulling heads off grasshoppers. Sure enough that box was filled with low charges and squibs. Have one for 9mm too. Use with jacketed and plated. If using to pull lead am trying to salvage powder, brass and primer. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |
