I have been using a Lee FCD for years when loading .223. I barely give the case mouth a touch with the die. I'm really not crimping much at all. Recently, the crimping collet part of the die has been coming out of the die body with the loaded round in it when I lower the shell plate (I'm loading on a Dillon 550). It's easy enough to reassemble the die by compressing the split ring, but the die pulls apart fairly easily. Anybody else had this problem and how did you fix it?

Update: Lee sent me a replacement die body that has been redesigned to solve this exact issue. Apparently, I'm not the first one to have this problem. Anyway, thanks Lee for the prompt attention and great customer support.

Never had or heard of that problem.
I would recommend calling Lee and exchanging it.

They will send you a new FCD.

I guess that's what I'll do. For the life of me, I can't figure out what holds it together other than the tension of the snap ring.
