| I'm thinking of getting a chronograph to see what I'm getting velocity wise with my reloads. I don't shoot competition-just for fun, so I don't need the most super duper chrony available. Just got the new Midway flyer and they have a Competition Electronics ProChrono Digital on sale. Does anyone have any experience with one?? Thanks . |

Figures it's now on sale, I just got mine last week and I've had it out twice now.
It works great. I read the Midway review before ordering and It does appear to be light and flimsy, especially the piece of clear plastic over the front display and were buttons are. But...it works fine and I don't expect to shoot it or man handle it either...at least I hope not to shoot it, many have. A buddy gave me a good sturdy tripod, and my quick, impromptu range setup is two coolers stacked on top of each other with a Caldwell rifle rest and I use a lawn chair for a seat and put the Chrono out at 12 feet, alongside a target stand, for each load I've used the target to check my zero first to help ensure I don't shoot the Chrono, I've been running handgun loads through it thus far and I'm thrilled with it. 9mm, 10mm and .44 Mag. Don't know why I've waited so long, it's now an essential must have tool for reloading. Buy it! |

If you really want to get a chronograph, do it right the first time, its a lot cheaper that way. You want to get a chronograph that has the "brains" separate from the screens, the computer should be separate and sit on the bench out of the zone of fire, when they are in the same box they will get shot up, its not if, its only when. When this happens, you have to buy a new chronograph, if they are separate you only have to buy a replacement screen, which is pretty cheap. I swore I'd never shoot mine, but it still happened, it only cost me a bit over $10 to get the parts to fix the screen, if it had been an all in one, like the one you mention, I would need to buy a new chronograph to fix it. A good chronograph with a separate "brain" doesn't really cost much more, and its a lot cheaper in the long run. http://pact.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=18&Itemid=69 Don't make this expensive mistake! ![]() |

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. The best Chronograph on the market is the Oehler 35P. Most people won't spend the coin for one, and at $575, I can't say I blame them for finding a cheaper route. But I use mine frequently, and couldn't be happier with it |

The ProChrono Digital is an excellent chronograph for the money. Mine is absolutely fantastic at reading whatever I throw at it. Two "extras" to get, if you can use them, are the IR screens for indoor shooting under florescent lighting and the USB remote and software to using a laptop on the bench to read shot data and control the ProChrono remotely. I researched a lot and it seems that chronograph has the best feedback and I can see why. If something happened to mine I would still buy the same one again.
