| What is a ideal grain bullit to reload in 270Win cal for punching paper at100 yds out to 200 yds? Thanks in advance. |

Paper punching is not what I would do with a .270. It is a wonderful hunting round, out to 500 yards +, if you are capable. A fair 250yd Elk round. 4831 is the classic powder for the 270. Look at the 130gr Sierra Game King for a start. Their 150gr Game King is a nice bullet as well. |

The Hornady .277 130gr SP is included in MidwayUSA's Blem Bullet Sale. I just picked up 5 boxes of 100 for $11 each box. Makes for a cheap practice round that is also more than capable of hunting. The blems (just got them in today) are cosmetic in nature and do NOT affect bullet usage whatsoever.
I use IMR 4831 and my Stevens 200 is perfectly happy with it. 3/8" groups at 100 yards pretty consistently. |

One of the .270's strengths is it's versatility.
Just for punching paper, Look in the Sierra manual at stiff RL-15 loads with the 90 Gr Sierra Varmitner. You'll never see this through a scope, but it will pretty much vaporize that rabbit in your yard, or punch nice small groups in paper. 130 Gr Nosler Ballistic tips shoot well with IMR 4831 or RL19 for me. You can substitute 130Gr Nosler Partitions for hunting. I like RL22 for 150 Gr Partitions or the 150 Gr Berger VLD (.531 BC). |
