I am very new to reloading Iam taking it one step at a time. I have a tumbler on the way with some media and have more than 1,000 .223 and .308 brass. Some of which is military ammo. I have heard that the primer is different... that it is "crimped". If this is true what type of equipment will I need to de-prim them? Are there resizing dies that will take care of it? It will be about 2 months till I get to that point. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you

The primer will pop out using the same decapping pin as a non-crimped primer.  It might be a little tigher, it might not.  To remove the crimp you can use your reamer to lightly bevel the crimp.

You need something to decrimp the primer pockets. Your options are to get a swaging set from RCBS, or buy the gizmo from Dillon. Some people use other methods such as a drill bit or a chamfering bit.

The primer will come out just fine using a resizing/depriming die.  You can also use a dedicated depriming die like what Lee offers.  After the primer is out, you either need to ream or swage the primer pocket. I recommend
this its fast and accurate.

If you want cheap and effective get a Hornady Primer Pocket Reamer, unscrew reamer bit from handle, chuck the reamer in a cordless drill, and ream away.

SMALL BASE FULL LEANGH dies,, for all semi auto re-loading,,

it cost a little more,, but worth it.

swedge the primer pockets, more than one company makes them,, they all work,

trim the brass that is a must,, Possum hollow, makes one you can put in a hand drill or drill press,, it is good for the money, too.
