Just got my new RCBS 502 Reloading Scale and started to set it up, when I ran into a hitch. In the instructions it says "...the beam pointer will come to rest fairly close to the zero graduation on the dial plate." My problem is, it is coming to rest on the bottom of its range of movement. It took three (3) 55 grain bullets to get it off the bottom, and then it hit the top. Adjusting the leg of it did nothing to help this. Has anyone experience a problem similar to this? I would love for this to be just me being stupid, but I have reread the instructions and can't find anything wrong. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Level must be on a flat surface.

The pan must be in holder for scale to ballance at 0.

In pic, scale is set at 5 grains, nothing in pan, so It's bottomed out.

Wait... I see it. Does the bronze pan go in the silver pan?

Whoops... Thank you for the help. I'm glad it was me being dumb and not something wrong with the scale.

BTW.....if you were to unscrew the screw on the bottom of the silver pan you'll find some very small sized shot.  Removal or addition of some BBs could help IF your pan does not zero.

The magnetic damper will sometimes take a set.....so, if you're not using it for a long period of time, remove the beam from the scale body.

Sometimes just CLEANING the piviot points helps too.

OH......and having a level surface to place the scale on is "elementary."
