okay got a uses CH powder thrower, I am starting at 26 grain of Varget in my 223 cases. Is .2 one way or another okay cuz thats about as close as this thing wil dump.   It will go 26 26 26 26.2   26 25.8  26 26.1 25.9 on so on, is that close for plinkin, these are not match grade rounds by any means. I use a Hornady balance scale to weigh, could it just be how I position the powder tray on the scale?

that is pretty much what mine does with varget on my hornady lnl ap. i dont think it is a big deal i throw 25 gr with my 55fmj's and it will move around .1-.2 gr once in a while.

so that is acceptable, U use 25 grain how do they act, Use them in ar? Cycle good Should I start lower? I also am using 55 G FMJ

so what do you figure the 55s will do at 26 +/- .2 about 2800?
3/28/2011 10:04:01 PM EDT
[#5]
Are you weighing every charge?  If so just set the measure to throw a little low and trickle it up to where you want it.  A powder trickler is less than $20.

Thanks BIGGDAWG Very good report, So really 26.2 is getting pretty close on the hot side then? Well should I tear apart my 50 rounds at 26 +- .2 and go for 25 grain? I know thats what yall are saying, I just went by the starting load plus.5

Edit: misread thought it was 26.2 varget load........... Flat primers,,,,,,,,,,,,

Loaded mine to 2.235 +/- .001 or so

no it was the 26.2 h335 with the flat primers. the 26 varget was good. going to try 26.5 varget tomorrow night and see what they do along with some tac and w748.

Okay awesome, If my Measure hiccuped real bad I woulded think it would go .5 off..... i dont think..... but at least if you test a round i might feel a little better, realy considering weighing every load just to feel better from now on.

thanks, i will probably shoot mine at 26 on saturday, then decide to stick with it or go alittle less.

on my next pound of powder what would you recomend?

SO whats the deal with everyone advertising like 3200fps , Like PMC and the like?
Are they hot loads or just a differnt powder or what?

Thanks

Do you have a baffle in the powder measure?

They work very well by taking the weight of the powder in the hopper off the measuring cylinder.
