I loaded up 50 of the following on my new LNL AP to test before I started real production of this round.  Before I got this press I had loaded the same but with 24.5gr of H335 and had not seen cases/primers like this.  These are strictly plinking rounds and once the SS109's are gone (about 750 more) I am going back to 55gr bullets. The round that was loaded is:

Brass - Mixed LC and Commercial

Primer - CCI 400

Projectile - 62gr SS109

Powder - 24.7gr of H335

2.450"

Sorry about the pic quality but I do not have a macro lens yet............  I think this round was too hot for me but I am not sure, is that primer flattened or is it "almost" normal?  If it is too hot, what should I drop back to?  24.2, 24.4, 24.0???

Thanks in advance for the help.......

Looks pretty normal to me.  A flattened primer will fill the chamfer in the brass and will almost look like part of the case.  That one still has a radius on the edge.

Those are progressively flattened primers.  I wouldn't be concerned until the 3rd one which is slightly cratered.

Looking at my case and that pic (not the pic I posted above as it is not too good), I am pretty much at the 3rd one.  So I am thinking I will back off to 24.4gr and see what it looks like.  Sound like a good plan?

If it is strictly a plinking round, I would back off a little.  Is 24.7gr an accuracy node for your rifle?
