| I am going to be loading 44 mag for the first time. I am looking for the best accuracy I can get. Not concerned about hunting or anything at this time. I will be using a Blackhawk with a 5.5" barrel. What are your suggestions? |

I used to use a Sierra #8600 180gr JHC with 25.5gr 2400 & CCI 350 primer. Very accurate and very fast 1725fps in my 7 1/2" Super Blackhawk. I started out using this load many years ago and had a lot of fun shooting ground hogs with it.
The longest standing shoot I ever made on a whistle pig was about 50 yards but I shot one from a sitting position a little over 100 yards once. Its harder to find chucks these days with all the coyotes making dinner out of them now. Nowadays though, I only use the Hornady 240gr JHP because its so close in weight to the cast bullets I make. The 240gr Hornady's and my .430dia 250gr Keith bullets are very accurate too. Its really hard to find a bad bullet for this cartridge unless you use a soft lead bullet that's loaded too fast. |
