Good score. I never find any of the great deals. Well just get a few extra belts, (they're cheap), and you should be good.
One thing to watch for depending on when it was built, on some of the older models the rubber sections that the barrel rides on tended to drift along the shaft and come out from under the barrel. Be sure too check on the tumbler the first time or two you use it. BTW the solution for this was to install a couple of star washers on the shaft inside of the rubber pieces. I needed the star washers and called the Thumlers company. They sent out not only the washers but an extra drive shaft too. Good CS that. These things are so simple, and parts are readily had online if ever needed, it should last about forever... Edit: From looking at the picture it looks like the drifting issue was already addressed, at least oh that shaft pictured. |

Great score on the tumbler! Glad you got your media from Mark. I picked up a model "B" drum at a gun show for $10. I had a buddy sandblast it and its now at a powder coater down the road from me. After powder coating I am going to Rhino line it and see how it holds up. Terry |

Nice score. And it looks good cleaned up. Did you remove the motor label or paint over it? I removed it, I may reattach it somehow because it came off in one peice. They make a spray aerosol adhevise #77 available at most hardware stores, K-Marts ect. Simply spray the back of the label and let it sit 20 seconds or so, then apply. |

I could have talked to him all night.... probably would have if I wasnt at work. I actually thought about rino lining the surfaces that contact the rollers. |

I've been using my Model B for over 20 years. When you're done using it, remove the belt from the pulleys and let it rest in a natural position. I've had mine get effed up from sitting in one position too long. Not a huge deal if you've got lots of belts, but I don't. |
| Since you are handy enough to take it apart, one mod I would suggest is to put an additional support for the motor on the right side. It’s odd because when mine came, it had bolts stick out about a inch on the right side of the motor that was not attached to anything? Well, that was too tempting and so I bend and punched out a piece of steel and attached it to the base with bolts and nuts to the bolts coming out from the motor. The motor seems to run smoother with this support “adjustment”. |
