I casted quite a few bullets tonight and come to find out most of them have a thin flange on the base...

is it OK to shoot these?

when I run them through the sizer it just folds the flange back

usually happens when the sprue plate loosens up, tighten it when you see it start, I usually trim them off with a knife before I size them, but they wont hurt anything.

I suspect it happened because I was running the pot too hot (just got done melting 80 LBS into ingots) and forgot to lower it and lead built up on the sprue plate.

Sprue plate may be warped also. I warped a Lee sprue plate by overheating it.
