Anybody have a recipe for subsonic 223? Trying to make the rifle sounds as quiet as possible. The supersonic crack rather defeats the function of the suppressor. |
|
Im working with a guy loading bluedot in. 223 for suppressor use. Were at 11.5 grains with good results. He wants it slower so Im working up some more lighter loads.
Supressors are a no-no except selected law enforcement members ;-S Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile Edit for fat fingers on a cell phone |

5.0 grains of trailboss
60 grain sp Winchester case cci 400 primer 1050 fps out of a 16" mid gas I tried 4 grains and got a squib. Trailboss is dirty so be sure to clean your gun after, and I always run a few full power loads threw the can before i take it off to blow it out. It may not do anything but makes me feel good. |

Quoted: The use of a suppressor may not be lawful, but owning one is, and Oregon and Idaho are just a short jont down the road. Plenty of us own suppressors and use them perfectly legally in our neighboring states. EDIT: You are in WA state. Can't help with your question as suppressor use is not lawful in your state. jonblack |
| Have used 4 grains of Trail Boss in a 16" bbl and got 1198 fps. Tried lighter loads and got squibs until I used small rifle magnum primers. Haven't spent a lot of time working on this and will probably do some more work with Trail Boss and SR 4759 when the weather gets warmer. |

I loaded up some last weekend using Hodgdon's load data and they were awesome. I shot a few without the can just to make sure they were exiting the barrel and were stable when hitting a paper target at 25 yards. I was using a 16" barrel.
bullet: Hornady 55gr FMJBT powder: 4.0gr Trailboss case: LC primer: Winchester SR COAL: 2.200 |

It was a Hornady 55 gr FMJ as that was all I had on hand at the time. Will be working with some Midsouth 55 gr HPs, 55 and 60 gr V-max on the next go round. Looking for quiet with an expanidng bullet. While it has to be weighed for each load, I think SR 4759 is a better choice to use because it seemed to be cleaner burning. May give Blue Dot a try too. Have a new 20" upper that the suppressor can be used on and am curious to see what differences there are with an extra 4" of barrel. |
