I'm about to jump in to loading up some .270 Win this winter. Hunting stuff is what I'll be loading....Deer and Antelope type loads for my 700 CDL.
As we all know, there's about a gozillian different kinds....For powder, I'm going to start with H4831SC, because I have some on hand for the .338 Win mag...gotta start somewhere. I've also got H380, and I'm pretty sure I've seen some loads in my Sierra manual for .270/H380? Either way...starting with the 4831.
One for sure I will try is the Sierra Game King, 140 gr. HPBT....I really like the accuracy of these in .308.
Nosler, Barnes, Berger? Not a Hornady hater(I like the v-max)....just haven't had much luck with the SST's in general in .338 or .308.
They all make good stuff...Tell me what you like in the 130-140 grain range?
Thanks for your input in advance.

You've got the right powder.  H4831SC is THE .270 powder.  I've tried a couple of other powers.  I get the best results with H4831SC
I use ordinary Hornady 130gr interlocks.  I bought a bunch of them from a gunstore that closed.

They're accurate and do the job well.  I have both flat base and boat-tails.  No difference in accuracy or performance on game.  Bullet hits where I point gun, game falls down.

Even though the Hornady bullet is not bonded, it works fine on deer size game and is priced so that you can shoot and practice with the same bullet and not break the bank.
My other go to bullet is the Nosler 150gr Partition.

I know you didn't ask about powder, but I've had great luck with RE22.  H4831 also works great.

For bullets, I like Hornady 110 gr vmax for lighter stuff, and the 130SST's for deer sized game.  At 3,300fps, the 110gr vmax loads shoot very flat and hit hard.

I use to use RE22. Very accurate, but VERY temperature sensitive. Don't expect that 200 yard zero you set on an 80F day to be even close on your hunt at 25F, H4831SC is specifically formulated to be insensitive to temperature swings.

For dear and antelope and other sub 350 lb critters I like Nosler 130 gr Accubonds

Lots of good choices for the .270.  I have had good luck with Core-Lokt, BT's, Sst's and others.  The best bullet is the one that your rifle shoots the best.

Good powder choices so far.   H4350 works best in my .270, but.RL22 and 4831 also good.  Good luck

I have had very good results with Nosler Balistic Tips 130 gr and 150 gr and IMR 4350. In my Winchester Model 70 XTR.

I want to try some Barnes 130 grain TSX in my Sako A7.  Thanks for the powder info.

Berger 150gr VLD are what I'm loading now. Did a lot of Hornady 150gr SST with 54gr H-4831SC. They are pretty stout loads. I also have Nosler 140gr Accubonds and Barnes 130gr TTSX bullets to load up, but have been preoccupied with other cartridges lately.

I use H4831sc or Re22 and 140gr nosler ballistic tips. One year I bought a box of speer grand slams when I was pushed for time to load any and that bullet works great as well.

Hornady Interlocks are a good basic hunting bullet for deer sized game and smaller in .270.  However, my .270 is my loaner
gun to my father and with the last box of bullets, papa and his buddy got several deer.  This last box of 100 bullets was Sierra 140 gr boat tail spitzer game king.

So, Interlocks and gamekings are all you really need for deer.  Heart or lung shots.

Somehow I knew I could leave for work this afternoon, and return home this evening to find every combination of bullets and powders imaginable! Thank you very much for all the suggestions
So far the H4831SC looks promising in the .338 Win mag. at 73 gr. and a 225 gr. Nosler Partiton. It would be great if I have the same kind of luck in the .270. I'm sure this will be the 1st place I head to after the range for a report and what I tried
Thanks again!

4831 is definitely known as THE .270 powder.  I actually use IMR 4831 or IMR 7828 but you can't go wrong with H 4831 either.

I highly recommend the Sierra line of bullets for deer.   They are made using the traditional cup and core method with no bonding of the lead core to the jacket.  But on thin skinned game such as deer this presents no problem and actually contributes to better killing power in my opinion.  I use the 130 grain Gameking boat tail softpoint and if you get them in the heart/lung area they are one shot stoppers and usually drop in their tracks.  Expansion and tissue damage is high usually leaving a 2-3 inch exit hole on the opposite side if shot broadside, but also retain enough weight to exit a deer even when shooting straight on or on a raking shot. My cousin shot a large doe straight on and the bullet exited through the ham completely shattering the bone and basically turned the meat to useless JELLO.  If you care about meat loss from bullet damage you have to be particular about your shots when using these bullets.

I also use 130 grain Nosler Partitions because I got a good deal on them from my uncle.  They penetrate extremely well, but do not expand and dump their energy as quickly as the Sierra does resulting in the deer usually running about 25 yards or so leaving a good blood trail before falling over.  They cause less tissue damage and ruin less meat if you have to take a less than ideal shot exiting through the shoulders or hams usually leaving about a 1 inch hole without a lot of bloodshot meat around it.

I have used 4831 and IMR (dupont) 4350 both with great results. I use Hornady 130 gn sp. Powder weight is anywhere between 54.5 gns. to case capacity. Watch your primers above 55.5 gns.

This has been a deer killer for me because of the shocking power. Never had a deer move over 10 yds. with proper bullet placement. Good luck.
