I'm looking at loading up some 308 & 30-06 for use in my M14, M1 Tanker (308), and M1 Garand. Can I use the same powder or should I use different types? If so, thoughts?
I am thinking about ordering primers from Powder Valley and they offer up to 40 lbs of product under same hazmat fee (I thought you couldn't put primers & powder under same fee but I'll see). Thanks for the assist. |

IMR-4895 or H-4895. You can also use it in many other calibers. TAC and RL-15 are ok too. The military reloaded countless millions of rounds with IMR-4895 in both chamberings. I like IMR-4064 and you will too if you don't mind hand weighing charges. H4895 meters a little better than the IMR version, so that's something to consider. You will find IMR-4064 listed in Sierra's .30-06 section and .308 section as giving the most accurate loads for some bullets. The truth is you have a lot of choices available to you when loading these caibers. Buy several reloading manuals and cross reference the powders listed for both rounds. I prefer extruded powders for a lot of reasons, mostly because they fill the cases better. However some people like ball powders because they throw so well. AA2520 will probably be your best choice for a ball powder. |
