Nothing but good luck.

Yeah,  but I still LOVE my 550B for working up loads, and making smaller batches of stuff I don't do in large volume.

Like 44 mag.

the 650 is faster, and a wonderful machine, but the 550B is a lot quicker to change calibers and stuff.

this is ARFCOM.......GET BOTH

My 650 is for making large batches of IPSC pistol,   and .223 bulk ammo....etc.

DILLON? RIGHT CHOICE? They have an excellent customer service record, my friend. Their machines are top-notch IMO.

I bought one when the price of .223 ammo = the price of the 550 B (without dies). Best buy I ever made!

Good choice. My wife just got me one for Christmas, going to finish setting it up today

Great press!  You'll love it.  I had one for 4½ years and 70,000+ rds and loved it.  It will produce excellent quality, large runs of pistol ammo as well as high precision ammo.  I must say that it was just finally getting broken-in.  However, 5 yrs ago, Mrs Santa gave me a XL650 with casefeeder so I sold it as I didn't have any room for 2 presses.

I suggest you take a look in the Gateway thread above for my post and click on the first link, "550B and XL650 Presses - Cheap Tips and Tricks" for some simple ideas to help make your reloading experience even better.

I have had a 550Bfor 20+ years, it was a Christmas present from my wife.  It has never let me down and after who knows how many thousands of rounds loaded, I have yet to have a part break.  Talked a friend into one and helped him set it up. He complained about the changing from small to larger primers and back again.  I jokingly told him some people buy a second machine to have one set for small primers and the other for large.  Next time I visited him, I helped him set up a second 550B.  All he cared about was his wife NOT coming into his reloading room because he was pretty sure she would get mad seeing two machines there.  Seems he bought the second one without telling her.

You will love your choice, hands down. I started with a 650, then I just bought a 550B off the EE here to work on smaller batch stuff.

Now all I have to do is hoodwink dryflash into coming to NY and get him into the sweat shop.....

You can go wrong with drinking the "Blue Koolaid", started out with a 650 fully loaded, than scoured on good deal for a 550, just added another 550 so as not to have to mess with changing primers.

I got a 550 a few months ago. Love it. Have not regretted it. I was loading on a Lee single stage, but then started shooting IPSC.

One of my favorite powders in 223 for 55 and 62 gr FMJBT's. My "other" favorite is Tac.

I too love mine. Got it NIB with 45 ACP dies for $125 for a guy who wanted to get rid of it asap. No prob, I'll take it.

I don't use it as much as I used to, but I think I probably have made around 15K or so rounds with it in the last 7 years.

Interesting, can't say I've seen that before. Mine didn't have that problem.

Been eyeing up a 650 myself

As a Public Service Announcement- new RCBS presses are at the bottom of my list. My late issue Rockchucker has a ram that looks like it was machined with a wood rasp- I use it as a brass processing mule.

I own 2 Dillon 650's and a Redding T-7. Great combo to have, and service from both companies is beyond reproach.

Thats what I did.  650 for 9mm, and 550 for everything else.  Eventually I'm going to get the casefeeder parts and quick change parts so I can also do 223 on the 650.

If you have a 9mm and a .223 conversion kits for the XL650 all you need is one extra part to also load .380 ACP. In case you are interested that part is called the Case Feed Adapter, 11573, 380White and it costs $15.99.

That's a great setup, I still use my old 550 all the time and let the progressives do the heavy lifting.  You can ad the case feeder and bullet feeder and at each step it will make your 650 a new machine.
