I just noticed this Chrono in the new issue of American Rifleman.
I have been looking for a cheap, reliable and most importantly, simple and easy to use Chrono. Cant find any reviews on this thing. Is it new? Can anyone confirm whether this thing is GTG? Or recommend a better, easier one? I have had good luck with RCBS and like the looks of this thing, based on the simple preview from AR. |

Just get the standard Chrony ... it's less than $120 and it has the LCD that is detached from the chronograph - so that it can be set on your bench. The even more important part is that if you shoot the Chrony - it will not have to be replaced and that is probably half the units cost. I have had mine for a while now and it has performed extremely well even with cloud cover and very late in the afternoon. It is very simple to use .... with only one switch (on/off) and one button (cycle through shots/strings). I have used it to clock my M82A1 with some 50 BMG loads that I worked up and used it to perfect my 220g Nosler Partition Whisper load. The Chrony is mall and can easily be put inside a 30 cal. Ammo can with room to spare for your Load Book and other things that you will need while developing loads. I have not had any experience with the RCBS unit, but I have not heard any good reviews on it either.

That's got to be the stupidist looking thing I've seen in a long time, if you have a good product don't pack it in really stupid gimmicky packaging. There are lots of good chromos on the market that don't resort to gimicky packaging in an attempt to sell it. The main recommendation on chronos is to get one that the screens are separate from the computer brain, if they are in the same box you will eventually destroy it by shooting the screens, and its a lot cheaper to buy new screens that have to buy a whole new chronograph. I have the Pact Model 1 XP, I shot a screen one time and it was very cheap to replace the screen. http://pact.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=18&Itemid=69 This is what you don't want: ![]() |
