I'm going to start shooting 200 yard CMP matches at my local range with my AR15 20" A2 rifle. I'm going to use varget or A2495 powder because I have 8lbs of each. What is a good bullet choice for this type of shooting. I also want to use the same load for all stages of fire so I don't want anything that can't be seated to mag length.

Sierra 69 and 77 gr bullets are great over Varget. I use the 77 HPBT matchking over 24.2 gr. of r-15 which is close in performance to varget.

I use 69 grain Sierras over AA2230. What you have for powder types should work fine.

At only 200 yards, you really don't need anything heavy.  I would suggest 52 grain SMK which is very accurate over Varget or RL-15 or TAC.  The heavier the bullet you run, the more ware on your barrel.  The lighter weight bullets are also cheaper, so use it and save your money and barrel.

my club is split... about 45% hornady (60 v-max or 75 match), 45% sierra (69 or 77 mk), and 10% other.

rl-15 is the powder of choice, but varget will do just fine.

A no brainer load for 200 yards is 24.5 grains of Varget with a 69 grain Sierra Match King seated @ 2.250". You can play with the charge weight a .5 grain in either direction to find what your rifle really likes, 24.5 will shoot fine as is.

I have some 52 BTHP's, 69gr MK's and 75gr Hornady's on hand, so I will give them a try and see what works best in my rifle. Might pick up some Re15 and save the Varget for something else.

52-53 grain bullets will shoot inside the heavier ones everytime in decent conditions.

This, Only difference is I shoot 24.2gr of Varget in a 20" NM upper with a Nosler or Sierra 69.

I recommend 60 gr. Hornady V-Max for 200 yards. I've been using these all season long and have had great results.

However, it's a flat based bullet, so you would need an inline bullet seater, like Hornady's or Forster's. I initially used my RCBS seater to seat these bullets and about 20-25% would get buckled at the shoulder.

If you don't have an inline seater, use Sierra 52 gr. Match King . 52 grain bullets are fine for that distance.
