Hey there.  I'm reloading some once fired 5.56 brass for my ar 15 and was curious if it was possible to use small rifle magnum primers.  I've been using the federal small rifle match primers (was all that was available when i bought them) and was just given the small rifle magnums by a friend.  Any help would be appreciated.

research some loads on the internet that use them and be sure to start with the minimum loads and work up.

for some primers, you HAVE to use the mag primers (wolf for example) in 223.

Top of the page, in Links, you will find the powder manufacturers.

They have free load data.

Great reloading manuals for 223, Lyman #49, Hornady #7, Sierra #5, all current on sale manuals.

Depends on what powder you're using as to what primer you use.

I use CCI 450 for my loads of Varget and Benchmark.  You should be GTG using them.

Yes you can use them. I use CCI #41 primers which are considered magnum primers exclusively in my AR's. Standard or magnum primers can be used. For a load with standard primers reduce by at least 1 grain and test for pressure before working up to where you are at with standard primers.
