I trust this is not a dupe. My search-foo found no previous information during the past three months.
I am soon to get a new Remington 700 in this caliber. This will be new to my collection and I have absolutely no experience with the round. I figure someone here has more experience than I do so I'll ask you. What is your favorite reloads for the .300 Win Mag round? What bullet weight, make and type works well in the 300 - 500 yard range for Elk hunting? What do you think of the 210 gr. Burger VLD bullet? What do you think of the 208 gr. Hornaday A-Max bullet? |

75 grain H4831 180 gr. Nosler partition Rem 9 1/2 mag primer H4831 200 gr. Nosler partition Rem 9 1/2 mag primer H4831 220 gr. Nosler partition Rem 9 1/2 mag primer These are the magic loads for my particular rifle, which is a douglas barrel coupled with a Mauser 98 action. Drop the charge 10% load to start. I can't offer any information on the Berger or the Hornandy bullets, I haven't used them for hunting.
Your 180 gr load is higher than in Nosler's manuals, but below Lymans #49, so I let it stay. Your other two loads were above all the manuals I looked in. dryflash3 |
