Recently I picked up some assorted bullets for cheap. About 200 - 300 of each of the following...

-Reminton 230gr and 185gr Golden Saber .451"dia. .45 auto,
-Speer 185gr. Gold Dot HP .45 auto,
-Magnus 155gr. Lead SWC-BB .45 auto with a greenish color lube.
and in .38 Spl./.357 Magnum,
-Speer 110gr and 135gr Gold Dot HP Short Barrel in .357"
-Magnus 158gr lead SWC .357" with greenish color lube.

Handgun propellents I have on hand are:
-Blue Dot,
-Power Pistol,
-Unique,
-2400,
-H110
and
-Titegroup.

I've been reloading for only 2 years and have loaded only conventional jacketed bullets.
The .45 bullets will be fired from 1911A1 clones but,
I have no load data at all for the .452" 155grain LSWC-BB for .45 auto. I mentioned that the lube is a greenish color because I have read that you can tell what lube you have by the color. I don't have a Lewis lead remover tool so i don't want to lead up my 1911 barrels.
Given the above propellents that I have on hand do you have any suggestions for loads useing the 155 grain leads?
Why are 155 grain lead bullets even made for the .45 auto?

I'll be shooting the 158gr. LSWC bullets thru a former Detroit PD S&W Model 10 .38 Spl. with 5" barrel.
With my powders can you suggest some load data?

Is the greenish color lube good lube?

Thanks for your time

I use power pistol in my .38 SPL loads. I don't remember the charge weight, but it's probably at the low end to middle of book recommended charges.

Have you weighed them? 185 would be alot more likely. You don't need a lead remover to clean a barrel.

-Power Pistol, Use for golden Saber 230 gr and 185 gr  Gold Dots.

-Unique, Could use for the 158 gr SWC's.This is the one I would use.

-2400, Could use for the 158 gr SWC's.

-H110 Use for the 357 and jacketed bullets if full loads are desired.

-Titegroup. Use for the cast 155 gr 45 Auto loads.  You can use 185 gr cast bullet data. Load to 750 -800 fps, no leading.

Why are 155 grain lead bullets even made for the .45 auto? Very light recoil. After trying 165 gr and 185 gr cast bullets in 45 ACP, I prefer the 200 gr cast SWC. But shoot up what you have.

Is the greenish color lube good lube? I wouldn't obsess about the lube color, whatever it is you aren't going to change it are you? Just shoot your bullets.

Easiest way to remove lead I have found is Kroil and a couple hours soak and then brush keeping it wet. Also Unique will work for all the lead loads and also jacketed .45.
