Is there a software program that allows you to input the barrel length, caliber, bullet weight and desired velocity and get some recommended starting powders and charges?  I seem to be struggling when it comes to creating good subsonic loads for heavy cast bullet weight ranges that many load books don't publish.  For instance a 180 or 200 grain subsonic load for 357mag out of a 16" barreled Marlin rifle.  Kind of obscure and uncommon stuff.  It would save some time if there was a computer program to help get started.

The best I know of is called Quickloads.  It costs $150 but many consider it well worth the money.  You can input all the various parameters you mentioned and it has tables for specific bullets, powders, primers, etc.  Here is a typical screen with the data you can manipulate.

I bought Quickload for the exact reason you are looking for one - and I love it.
I built my young son a 16" .357 NEF single shot & am shooting custom 275g subsonics out of it.
I would never attempted it, or known the possibilities without the program - a very well spent $150

WOW! 275 grain subsonics!  I am amazed those will stabilize.  Very cool.

Color me interested. Is there a trial version of this that I am just not finding?
