I posted in the Florida HT forum pics of my range build that is "in progress".  I just ordered two 12"x12" AR500 steel plates that will be used, or were intended to be used, for 100 yards plus rifle fun.  However, I wanted to do some CQB training and was looking at some of the steel static targets offered by various companies and ALREADY realize CQB training and steel shooting DO NOT MIX, until I started to consider frangible ammo.

Frangibleammo.com offers frangible bullets for reloading and looks like it is the answer to my quest to do some 10-25 yards pistol/rifle work with some steel.  I watched a YouTube video of a pistol being used at Point-Blank range, not what I want to do, but it looked half-ass safe.

Anyone loading this stuff?  Thoughts on performance?

No experience with it.

BUT I have had .38 WC bounce back 20 or so yards while shooting "frying pans".
I'd be worried about the fragments... might not kill you, but they probably would hurt.

At SWAT training, we have been shooting a steel plate rack for YEARS and YEARS, never an issue with .40S&W.  Last year, from about 15-20 yards, I took a bullet jacket to the right wrist, it's still in there and showed up on a recent x-ray for a non-related incident.

This frangible ammo looks like the ticket for close up (10-35 yards) training with pistol and rifle using steel targets.  I already reload, have been for years, never really thought of these bullets until now, never had the need until now.

On our agency range we shoot steel out to 250 yards with rifle and as close as 25 yards with pistol.  We use standard ammo but I want this for my PRIVATE use and training on my PRIVATE range.

I bought some but haven't tried them out yet.  I still need to get some steel targets.

I think frangible ammo is a great idea.
