185gr fully jacketed .45 auto bullets that have a hollow base. How to load those? Seems the hollow would create more empty space lowering pressure.
What is the purpose of the HB design in .45 auto? Thanks |

Thanks Hollow base can actually raise pressure. The hollow base will expand and seal the bore under pressure. Some consider this good for accuracy. For loading, if I couldn't 185gr data specifically for HB bullets, I'd use 185gr data for standard jacketed bullets, start low, and work up. |

What is the purpose of the HB design in .45 auto? Speaking straight out of my butt... but I believe the purpose is to have the lighter weight projectile, while mimicking the overall size of the 230gr bullet. A round nose 185 probably wouldn't have enough straight surface for the case to grab onto. I've been using Berrys 185 HBRN with 5.0gn of Titegroup. |

Not the most accurate bullet compared to jacketed and some lead. It's a great blaster round. Take 500 of those to your favorite spot and have fun ! Have taken as many as 1000 to range before and shot'em up in an afternoon without killing my wrists or hands. |
