I've been reloading 45ACP with cast 230gn LRN bullets.  Are these safe to use in a 45 Colt load?  The Hornady manual that I have doesn't list a round nose bullet for load, and the COL max is listed at 1.600".  I tried to test fit a 230gn LRN, and a 1.6" COL will seat the bullet curve below the case mouth.

FYI:  This reload is for a Taurus Judge.

The only problem you might encounter is the lack of a crimp groove on these bullets.  You could always seat them deep enough that you can crimp over the edge of the front band, and that should resolve that problem.

My experience in doing similar with .38 SPCL made for erratic velocities and poor accuracy since I could not control the amount of crimp.  The Judge should have a long chamber for the .410, seat to a longer OAL and roll crimp or taper crimp.  You should be just fine.  8.0 grains of Unique makes a real nice load for the 250gr lead bullets and should work well with the 230gr

just loaded some 360 gr cast rounds with 19.5 gr of H110. Going to see how they perform out of a winchester lever action here pretty soon.

I load a 230 LRN cast from a Lee mold. Worked OK in a lever gun and SA pistol.
Unique powder BTW.
