I really like the M855 62gn load with Hodgdon H335 (25.0gn) but I have a bunch of Reloader 15 that I'd like to use up. Alliant's site recommends 25.0  for speer 62 gn.  Anyone know if I'll get close or the same results with 25.0 of 15 as I would with H335?

Also, I'm using CCI 400 primers. I'm probably going to use the Reloader 15 rounds for plinking too.

Speer #12 lists 25 grains as max (compressed) with a 62 grain bullet.

I'm sure it will work, but my hunch is it's too slow to be optimal.  Latest Sierra manual doesn't list RL15 until you get to the 69 grain bullets.

Good luck.

I agree, but then again it's the SS-109, so it's not llike he's expecting any accuracy to begin with, lol.

People need to remember that you can use just about any powder in any cartridge if you work it up enough and start from a very low charge, but this isn't to say that unconventional powder X will be a good accuracy choice in a particular cartridge.

I'd guess that RL-15 would be a tad slower than the fellow ultimately wants.

Don't waste the RL-15 and save it for the heavies or for any 308 loading you might do.  It's too good a powder and somewhat harder to find, to be wasting on the lowly SS-109.

For SS-109's and H-335, I also settled on 25.0 grs.

With Re-15, I worked up to 25.5 grs with the SS-109. Please do your own work up for safety.

This load shot just fine. I use Wolf SRM primers, and LC brass.

I normally use Re-15 for my precision loads in place of Varget. Just measures better, same accuracy.
