I have been using HS-6  for my 9's. I just build a AR9 and have realized how dirty this powder really is. So, no I am trying to find something that burns a little cleaner.

What do you like for 9mm range powder?

I use Bullseye/WW231 for my cast bullet loads (130 grain), or Blue dot/AA#7 for my jacketed loads (147 grain).

Try Power Pistol if you can get it. It's pretty clean for me, and plus it's a slower burning powder so you should get good performance in the AR9 from it. Some people say True Blue is similar, but I haven't tried it.

Oh, and it makes sweet fireballs.

+1 Good velocity and impressive fireworks.

Am I the only one that thinks W231 is dirty?

That is all I have used soo far for 9mm, but man it just seems soo dirty..

I'm not sure what I am going to try next...

Solo 1000 for range/minor 9mm loads.  Very clean and soft shooting.

TG, I tried PP but did not care for it I had to stay on the upper end to burn clean

Clays light loads, TiteGroup mid range, Power Pistol full power jacketed loads.

I use Solo 1000 for lead bullets and 700x for jacketed. Both seem just as if not cleaner than any factory ammo I've used.

I like W231 or Titegroup.

Seems Titegroup has been burning a little cleaner.

Clays has always worked very clean for me, in 12 ga. shotgun and .45ACP loads.    I've not yet loaded 9mm rounds but it's on the list and I know there is data out there for it.

What load are you using for 9mm?  W231 is pretty dirty at low pressures but cleans up pretty well with higher pressure.

This has been my experience with most powders in 9mm and .40 S&W. If you aren't close to full power they won't burn clean. If you really want to see some scummy handguns shoot a bunch of Federal 148 grain .38 Special wadcutters. Low velocities, low pressures = incomplete powder burning. That's my theory on it, for what it's worth.

I have never been pleased shooting Unique as far as cleanlieness goes. But it shoots well, and is sometimes the most accurate powder when using lead bullets.
