| I usually load .308 with 4064 or 4895 which don't really meter that well, of course. I have some 147 grain FMJ that I would like to load in volume without trickling. What's a good metering powder that will give good accuracy for this load, and how many grains do you use? |

Just curious....I am loading some LC 1x mil brass & 168 gr OTMs for .308 as I type, using 43.5 gn 4895. Do you use 4895 for 168 grainers, and if so, how much? |

Thanks all. I use H335 for .223 so I'll start with that. Dual purpose is always nice!

The sweet spot for my M1A is 41.5 grains of 4895 with a 168 BTHP and 2.800 COL. I've tried 42.0 - same accuracy, harder kick. As always, start low and work up for your application. |

Whatever variation you see in powder charge will not be visible on the target––just make sure you set it back enough off the max load to keep you out of trouble. |

H4895, AA2460, AA2520, W748, and W760.
Personally, I use IMR 4064 with RCBS chargemaster. But am switching to Varget. I got as much as +- .3gr with Varget and R15 in Lee Perfect Powder, not bad for hunting ammo or plinkers well below max. Technique helps. Even the best measures will cut powder. R19,R22,R25 and IMR powders are the problem children. |
| Over the last couple weeks I've been figting with BL-C(2), trying to get a decent load for 145 grain plinking ammo (LC brass & Wolf primers). Just for the hell of it, I tried some Benchmark that I've had laying around for a couple years & was AMAZED at how the groups shrank. Benchmark isn't a true ball powder, more like a very short cut stick. |

Listed as maximum by the NRA after they conducted testing. So widely accepted, most in the high power community could quote it in their sleep. |
