For use in 5 inch 1911's I want to load some .45 auto ammo with 185 grain Gold Dot bullets #4470 on the  H O T  side.
Depending on which load data manual you look at and its copyright, maximum load data changes.
I am going to work up to hot but here I am asking what are your max hot loads for the 185 GD so I can set a limit or at least some sort of guidlines when working up.
During the next day or so I'm going to pick up some powder si listing powder will help.

Thanks.

I haven't loaded any Gold Dots, but I have loaded some Hornady 185g XTP's. I used HS-6 for powder and found a good, accurate load at 10 grains of powder. It is very snappy and runs across the chrony at 1000 fps +. I don't shoot too many of those loads. Max load listed with HS-6 is 10.3 grains in the Hornady manual, 6th edition.
