Ok, so this might sound like a noob question, but can i use WSF for reloading 308? i looked at the winchester website and it only lists it as pistol and shotgun, but no rifle. i already have 15 lbs and  it would be nice to only need 1 powder for all three.

The real answer is "Maybe"; there may be some low speed cast bullet rifle loads using that powder.  The charge weight used will be very small.

The answer for new reloaders is "No".  It's too fast and unsuitable for bottleneck rifle cartridges.  This is one of the reasons there are over 100 gunpowders available in the US, the variety is needed to suit specific applications.

Gunpowder is cheap.  Eyes and fingers are close enough to not replaceable.  This is no exaggeration - you can blow up a firearm by using the wrong gunpowder without complete understanding of what you're trying.

If they're in sealed containers maybe you could sell or trade them on the EE to someone locally for rifle powder... Just a suggestion.

No one size fits all powder, there's a lot of choices for .308 win, it's not a picky round to reload powder wise, unless it's for a gas gun, then powder choice becomes more critical.

i thought so. i was just lucky because i have been reloading shotgun for about 6 years with WSF and when i finally started to reload pistol, I was surprised that i could use the same powder.  just hoped that it might happen again for 308
