I've  been loading .223 for a short while. I'm loading for a Bushmaster and a M&P. My first loads were a thousand 55gr Hornady FMJBT. Now I have some Hornady SP, flatbottom. I was loading to a length of 2.25 and these have worked flawlessly, The cannelure would end up right about the case mouth. These soft points loaded at the same length leaves the cannelure just above the case mouth. Should I seat these to a new dephth of 2.20? Are they OK this way? Just curious.

It's your choice.  The cannelure is a guideline and a crimp is not required.  Try them both ways to see how they shoot best.

If you are not crimping, the cannelure can end up where ever.

I don't crimp those soft points, and load to 2.250 oal.
