Can someone tell me of their experience using WC 844 for loading .55g and 62g 223 bullets? I am loading just for plinking, not for match grade accuracy. Is it worth the savings using this powder compared to W748 or H335? |
| I've been using WC844 for 62 gr. in .223 since I have a 8 lb jug of it that I bought a long time ago. It's good for plinking ammo. Have a 8 lb. jug of WC846 to use for 55 gr. plinkers that I got at the same time. If you don't have any powder now I'd probably stay with the commercial powders if the price difference isn't signifigant. |

You might find this interesting............
http://www.thegunzone.com/556prop.html It's usually said (for data use)........ WC844 = H335 WC846 = BLC-2 I'm NOT saying that it's an exact/direct replacement. So, of course...........start low and work your way up. Take all standard precautions when approaching any "new" load. And, YMWV. Aloha, Mark |

Been using 844 for about 6yr now... 748 started to climb to $21-23/lb, and with 844 at around $72 for 8lb, it was a no brainer for blasting ammo.. using 748 in the 22-250 got expensive (shooting more because of suppressor), so $9/lb powder was a winner... then it increased to $100 for 8 lb, but it was still less than 748.
I'm sitting on 21 1/2 lb of 844 currently.. |

I bought 32 pounds from Bartlett about a month ago and have gone through about 8 of it. The batch I got is dead on as far as a replacement for H335, maybe a tad lighter. I have been using around 25.2 +/- .1 grains behind a 62 grain steel core bullet with very good accuracy results. |

Wc844 shot the best with 69 and 80 grain ser. bullits, for me.
I just got through doing some load developement with it and Varget, AA25??, and one other. Too late to remember but the wc844 did produce the best groups. I plan on shooting service rifle matches with it. (especially since I got 20# of the stuff.) |
