I have about 4K of mixed head stamp LC brass that I plan to reload during these cold Florida winter months when it gets down to 50 degrees and is too cold to go out to the range.
This is range ammo with Hornaday 55 gr FMJ and I will be using H335. In other words just plain old shooting ammo that mimics military ammo. Do I really need to separate out the head stamp on the LC brass? Isn't LC brass pretty consistence from one head stamp to the next? Will it really make a noticeable difference if all the other components are the same? Does anyone know? |

It is cold ... How cold, cold enough that I just spent 6 hours casting 45 slugs with proper long sleeve shirt and jeans.
I reload LC mixed all the time for plinking 25 grains varget or tac and bulk hornady 55 grain fmj boatails good cheap and very accurate. It is my standby everyday round. Save the good stuff for the zombies |

-22 degrees coyote hunting yesterday, lucky if we'll hit 15 degrees for a range trip tomorrow... I'd kill for 50's. Get your butt to the range.
I use the same setup as you for plinking ammo, all LC cases and I don't mind the headstamp. Groups as well or better than factory ammo |

1. I wouldn't worry about separating the brass like everyone already said. but more importantly...
2. I wouldn't try to copy military ammo for practice. Your brass won't last as long, You won't get as many rounds per lb of powder, and it runs your gun harder than necessary for practice. There's no upside to it. Even POI shift is negligible. w00t! |

The only thing that I am concerned about with range ammo is that the trajectory is close to mil ammo for the purpose of the BDC out to 500 meters on my ACOGs. I can usually get that with 25 grs of H335. |

In Central Florida I can go to the range about 360 days a year. I usually go out at least once a week. Rain or high winds may keep me away but never temperatures. I was just trying to be funny. By the way, 50 degrees in the day time in Florida is butt ass cold for us. That means we have to wear a light jacket or sweater. At least the sun is out. Also the boys from “up north” hate to shoot in the summer because they complain of it being too hot. They sweat like hogs and look miserable as hell. I don’t mind it at all except for the mirage at long distance. |

But you are right about northern boys and the heat, it kicks my ass.
The only time I load one headstamp is for match ammo, when you want all the variables tight. |
