Went to Bass Pro and bought a L-N-L press today, too bad they didn't have a shell plate in .45 ACP.

So I drove over to Cabelas, BP is only about 10 minutes from me, and Cabelas is about 20 minutes, they didn't have a fucking shell plate either.

Both stores only had like 3 or 4 shell plates in different calibers. SOOOoooooo, I drove over to the gun show in Ft. Worth hoping one of the vendors that sell reloading equipment and supplies would have one, there were two vendors that had supplies but neither had a shell plate.

So I ordered one through Midway, so as it would go, I have the press but can't use it for 4 or 5 days, I wasn't about to spend 33 bucks to get it shipped second day air.

The trip to the fun show wasn't a total waste since I got 1K primers.  BP nor Cabelas had primers, figures huh?!?[://

So I guess I do have something to look forward to when the shell plate comes in. But one other thing that pisses me off is I didn't have the money last week to get the press and the 1K bullet deal ended on 12/31/09. That's my fucking luck.

I'm thinking about sending it anyways and maybe I'll luck out and they'll honor it since it's only 2 days past the deadline, but I highly doubt it.

Ah the problems of a LNL AP!  Finding the right Shell Plate.  Never a problem with Dillon stuff just another reason to drink the blue Kool Aid.

*sigh*

He didn't exactly find Dillon stuff there either, right?

Congrats on the new press, you'll need more than 1K primers!  I have to buy them by the 5K now.  Reloading doesn't save money, you just shoot more.

Despite what many say the #1 does work for .45ACP. I have 2 that work just fine.

Well again, that's my fucking luck, they both had the #1. Oh well I already ordered it so I'll just wait it out. I had thought about getting the Dillon. Maybe next time, I'm sure there will be another press in my future.

My whole point was that Dillon has a order fill rate of 99 percent.  Hornady can not even come close to 25 percent. Hell Hormady has bullets announced in 2009 that were never made! Sort of like Ruger......does XGI and Gold Label ring a bell.....No matter whether it be bullets or equipment.

And, you have people paying 80 dollars for a shell plate and some talk of BB stores raping people on primers?  Do not kid yourself, when buying a product one needs to be able to use the machine....not waste time, gas, entrance fees, and parking fees only to be snookered.....  Dillon delivers and well....Hornady not so much!

Are you being paid to repeatedly post this nonsense, or are you being a broken record strictly in your spare time?

What does Dillon's mail order fill rate have to do with a Hornady press purchased at a retailer? Can I not ding Dillon for the stuff not in stock at my local retailer? Shell plates aren't 80 bucks either. You may want to go wash your face, you have blue stuff around your mouth.

I have been running a Hornady for several years now and converted it over to the new system a year ago. I would like to know where you are getting 25% from. Conjecture I am sure. And for people paying $80 for a shell plate then that is just a case of fools being parted with their money. Try $30-$35 for a more realistic figure. You may have to wait a while because the Hornady has become very popular especially since it came out with the EZ-Eject system. This was the last real bug to the LNL AP.

I have seen how a buddies 650 works and I will take the Hornady any day. Far less hassle making it work and keeping it running. Plus it is nearly impossible to detonate a primer in a Hornady. Pretty much everything associated with the Hornady works better and is more versatile. Shell plates, powder measure, priming system, ejection system.

Just curious. How much did they get at the Ft Worth show for 1k primers. I was there but wasn"t in the market for primers. Cabelas will get them in. I usually go with a big order from Powder Valley.

I have been running a LAL press for 12 years....Hornady CS is top notch....I can call them up and tell then I need decapping pins and have them in a few days....Replaced for free and I didn't have to send in the old parts.....

They have done that with a few other parts as well....

I don't think you will be disappointed...

BooHoo, I feel real sorry for you. Let's see my closest BassPro is in another state about 45 minutes away and my closest cabelas is well, oh that's right there is no cabelas or gander mountian anywhere within 2 hours of me!

This gets old quick.
People that Hawk one good piece of equipment and BAD MOUTH another good piece when they BOTH are excellent are usually trying to build up their own ego to make other people look less wise in their choice,, usually because they are lacking something, or trying to make up for something.
There's pros and cons to BOTH presses,, live with it/deal with it, but don't try to make a man feel inadequate for his choice to make yourself to look wiser/better.
You all know what Freud would have said about it.

My facts come from reality.  I am a good friend of large dealer.  And, the fill rate on Hornady products across the board sucks!  He orders direct and when a Dillon order is placed it is nearly 99 or better.  Hornady is joke!  Has been for a number of years......I do not live to post down about Hornady.  I just flat out know that if a person wants to avoid frustration go with a proven product line up with the GOLD STANDARD OF CUSTOMER SERVICE.

So, you can attack my position from a position of ignorance, but my mine is from fact at the retail level!

Congratulations on you LNL purchase, you are going to love the press.  Hold on on the Get Loaded promotion and give Hornady a couple of days to update their web site.  They have renewed the Get Loaded free bullets promotion every year, so I would expect them to do it again in 2010.  Just wait for the new form or call them.  Having dealt with Hornady's customer service in the past, I can tell you that even if they don't renew their offer in 2010 they will probably send you the free bullets even if you missed the deadline by a couple of days.  You did not mention anything about dies in your post, but if you buy Hornady dies you will get and additional 100 free bullets per die set.

If you love you blue press so much, what the hell are you doing trolling on a Hornady thread?  Do everyone a favor, stop trolling.  All you are doing is making a fool of yourself.

They were Winchester large pistols at $37 and change before tax so it was right at 38 bucks. The other dealers were priced at 42 to 45 per thousand depending on what brand.

BTW txcas, I am upgrading from Lee presses, I have 3 different ones so I already have the dies, I'll be using those. From what I've read they will work, they are the same threads as the Hornady. Got em installed and awaiting the shell plate.

Looks like its 500 this year although their math seems to be flawed....Given the selection and the quoted price there is no way to get up to $300worth of bullets as they state in the PDF .....

Yeah, the "value" representations are all kinds of screwed up, both on the page linked to and the PDF file.

Wonder if it's a misprint? I wish I hadn't missed the 1K bullets, but at least I get the 500. I seem to always miss out on promotions. I missed out on promotions for both S&W for the M&P and Springfield for the XD.

It has to be.  The two (the page linked to and the PDF doc) aren't even consistent with each other.

If I wanted to be an asshole and rub it in I'd tell you that I got in on both the Hornady AND the M&P promos.  But I wouldn't do that.

Congrats on the LnL.  Not to worry, you'll eventually get all the items you need to reload and then you'll be set.  It really doesn't matter what brand your press is as long as you're satisfied with it and it meets your needs.  Remember, reloading becomes a separate hobby and you may even join those of us who aren't quite sure whether we reload to shoot or shoot to reload!

I was given a Hornady L-N-L classic reloading kit for Christmas. I Ordered a few sets of Dies on the 1st to go with them, they came in on the 3rd from Midway. Called Hornady to see if my redemption forms were still valid.

They said of course they still were! Its extended for the first month or two of 2010. They even knocked some of the shipping and handling off of the 800 bullets I am getting. Pretty cool if you ask me. I am going to wait to set it all up though until I get my tumbler and a set of calipers.
