I found this chonograph at Midway USA, and was gonna put it on my Christmas list. Thought I would get opinions on it. Gets good reviews, and this would be my first Chronograph. I have been reloading for about a year now, and am really starting to see the need for one.

I also found this one, they seem to be comparable:

Go with the first one you posted.

I just bought the F-1 and didn't realize that you couldn't review your string of shots. It only shows the previous shot. Had I paid better attention, I would have noticed before I bought. That being said, it does seem to work well.

When I was looking to get mine, I decided that I really wanted one with a remote display / controls so I can use the control while I'm at the bench.  In addition, you can see the information much better with the display closer.   Midsouth Shooters has a Shooting Chrony, Beta Master with a remote control for $113.  That's what I got and I've been happy with it.

One suggestion.  Instead of the steel legs to hold the sky screens, I use plain soda straws.  The reason you want to use them is that if you hit a metal leg, it will break the housing and likely the sensor too.  I you hit a soda straw instead all that happens is the straw shears leaving the housing and sensor undamaged.

I carry extra straws in the box with my chrono and I must admit, I've needed them a time or two shooting pistols over the chrono.

I bought the Shooting Chrony Beta but never got past error 1.  I would strongly recommend something else.

Good idea to have chrono with the electronics on the bench, less to destroy with an errant shot.....
Probably the best Chrono out there is the CED Millenium.....

I use this one like it very much http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productNumber=306796  If you get one without the remote just go to any metal shop and have them make you a guard,1/4" steel plate long enough for the Chrono to sit on,up front weld on two 1/4' plates in the shape of a pyramid on a 45 degree angle just high enough to protect the main body and electronics.  Next thing to do is pick up a pack of the extra  long  bamboos skewers to replace the wires that hold your diffusers on after you shoot them off.

I have the F1....I like it. Its not as advanced as some others, but it works, it gets the job done, and tested against another friends chrono it was within 8fps (chronos were placed back to back).

I agree with COSteve.  I've got a Beta master, have had it for several years, and it works well.  I haven't shot the steel posts yet but did put a .40 hole through the back of the unit and wrecked the sensor enclosure.  Shootin Chrony was real good about getting me a replacement  though.  I ordered and payed for one and they sent me two.  Perhaps they know this time won't be the last? Having the display on the bench is extremely handy.  I haven't used any others so I can't compare but I'd buy this one again.
