Anyone know about when this powder will again be available? It took me by surprise that this and Varget seem to be missing from everyones shelves.

thirdgenerationshooters.com has one lb containers of H4895 and eight lb jugs of Varget. Unfortunately you will have a hazmat fee if you order...

Something to do with the new occupant of the white house, "the greatest ammo and gun salesman" of all time.

as much as I don't care for Obama, HE didn't cause this, WE did

To avoid a discussion about it, I see it ALL the time at my local bass pro but only in 1lb containers. No varget though but I have enough H35 and 4198 to hold me over

He did too cause it ! If it was a pro-gun guy in there, no one would be worried.

Exactly right.

Lessons were learned from slick willy, some got caught short, others not so much.

Do you have to have the H?  Can you live with the IMR (both handled by Hodgdon now)?   I think there is more IMR around than the H.

You may or may not find the same experience in your area, but I don't have access to any big box sporting goods within 300 miles.  I do have a good conventional, local-owned gun store here though.  Being on first name basis (they see me more than they want to probably) I found out that they have trucks come in nearly every day, usually between 10am and noon. They get stuff in all the time.  Problem is, some of it doesn't stay on the shelves more than a few hours.  They've had 4 of the new Ruger black guns, and they haven't even made it to the racks.  So with the realization that I'm not the only guy looking for the stuff that's new or popular, IMR4895 and Varget, being examples, I check in on them personally or by phone every morning about 11, until I score the particular thing I need.  It works.

Lately, both Varget and 4895 get to rest on the shelves for several days and they even have primers, even Federal bench rest primers, so things must be getting a little better.  I fully expect to see hoarders in droves at gun shows in a couple of years selling bullets, primers, and powder, for way cheaper than they bought it...and I won't feel a bit sorry for them.  We didn't cause this...they did.
