I am reloading 45 for my target league. The accuracy seems fine, but when I fire off a round, it tends to spray what I assume is powder at me.
I am using 185gr SWC (H&G 130 mould) that I cast, 4.3 gr W231, and an AOL of 1.195, crimp of .470 The gun is a Taurus 1911.
What would be causing the spraying of powder at my face?

Incomplete combustion caused by too low of a charge.  Winchester (Hodgdon) recommends 5.0 - 5.9grns of W231 with a 185grn SWC bullet.  Are you using a reloading manual?  If so, who's?

I was using the minimum from hodgdon online, subtracting 10-12% for lead over JSWC. I can certainly up the load, I was just being overly safe I guess.

+1 had the same problem before more powder

I will second the low powder. If I load a low powder charge of bullseye  for low recoil target work, it gets all over my arms.

For bullseye type loads, the recipe is about right.  I use W231.  I use a bit more crimp than you are using.

I have been reloading 45acp with 4 grains of Clays and a 200 grain LRNFP bullet for years.  Shoots good, I know it is underpowered but have never had a

problem with powder burn.  Of course Clays is a fast burning powder

......... and that's why it burns better in low powder charges.  The 45acp round is susceptible to issues of incomplete powder burning because it already is a low pressure round.  Powders that need higher pressure for complete combustion are the first to show signs as the lower weight charges generate on minimal pressures.

what would you recommend for a low power load with Titegroup, with my same bullet setup as above? Im looking for a light load, its short range bullseye shooting, I dont need a huge power round.

For short range bullseye shooting with light 185 grain SWC you probably want to use Bullseye.

Same thing happened with my new PT1911 with handloads and factory ammo.
After several hundred rounds it stopped.
