| I used to have one of the first LoadMasters Lee ever made. You probably know the rest of the story, so I won't go there. I've reloaded eversince single stage with a Lee 4 hole turret. In terms of accuracy you can't beat it when looking at finished bullets. I'm reloading pistol for more than myself these days and thinking of progressive for just the powder drop, bullet drop and crimping stages.. I'll always prime by hand. Anyone have experience with a NEWER Lee LoadMaster ? |

I've just got my loadmaster to work almost 100%.....I'll share for the rest the few keys that have led to this.
-Operate the primer slider by hand....I set the bullet in the case and after that reach over and slide the primer slider, this keeps primers from jamming up or feeding improperly. -If the case feeder arm isnt feeding properly, try a dab of some really thick grease on the slide bar thing, and when I say thick grease I mean like military water pump grease or similar, the stuff that is super thick and sticky and really doesnt act like grease at all. Once you get the primer problems fixed and the case feeder working, the press works damn near 100% in fact when I recently loaded 1K of .45 and 1K of 9mm I dont think I had a single F'ed up primer or malfunction. |

I got one about a year and a half ago. Pretty finicky but I could get it to run ok once
I learned the quirks. I never thought of operating the primer slider by hand, the priming feed system was the main problem I had with mine. It is VERY sensitive to gunk build up, cleaning it regularly helps a lot. I have been very happy with most of my Lee equipment for the price point, I have several single stage presses, the .50bmg, and the 4 hole turret and would happily recommend them no problem. I can't say the same for the Loadmaster. But then, while I shoot a lot, the volume I shoot pistol doesn't justify a progressive since the 4 hole turret press is pretty fast. |
