I have Speer Grand Slam 165Gr bullets. I cannot locate a load with these particular bullets.
So would it be safe using 165gr SPTZ Speer bullet load?
Starting with I4895 at 43.0 Grains and working up maybe to 45.0
That is what is in my Speer Manual
Just checking since this is my first time loading Rifle

Any input or comments would be appreciated.

The BEST most SAFE route to go would be to contact the maker of the bullet (in this case SPEER).

Note what SPEER says as a WARNING..........

IMPORTANT NOTE: Reloading data published by SPEER are for SPEER bullets. Many of our bullets are of unique construction; there is no such thing as "generic loading data" any more. Other bullet makes may produce significantly different pressures and velocities. We make no warranty that our published loads are safe with another make of bullet. You, the reloader, bear the ultimate responsibility for knowing your firearm, loading equipment, and techniques.

ME........maybe I would use the data for the SPEER bullet of the same weight. But, I'd start with a "starting charge" and/or lower my max. charge by 10% if I wasn't given a "starting charge."  But, that's me.

For liability sake.........I have to say..........

What YOU do, is up to YOU.

Aloha, Mark

Starting with I4895 at 43.0 Grains and working up maybe to 45.0 Did you mean IMR-4895 or H-4895? It matters.

That is what is in my Speer Manual  What number? I am looking at #10 and #14, IMR-4895 isn't listed for 165 gr bullets.

Just checking since this is my first time loading Rifle

Speer #14 page 482 lists the same loading data for three 165 gr bullets.

Spitzer BTSP, #2034

Spitzer SP, # 2035

Grand Slam SP, # 2038

IMR-4895 is not listed in the 165 gr data. It is listed with the various 150 gr bullets.

Yes your are correct I intended for it to say I4895 not H
My print out says c200 primers I4895 with these grains
43.0
45.0
47.0 being the max
I do not have a new speer manual to find the grand slam bullet mine are older
I also have some Lymans manuals and grand slam is not in there.
I might be over thinking this and trying to find just Grand Slam  bullet load?
Sorry for the confusion again I just do not want to start until I fully understand this.

You guys have been great help and I have learned much from this site.

Thanks

If you have a Speer manual that lists loads for 30-06 using IMR-4895 and 165 gr bullets,

then begin loading with the start load and work up.

Good luck
