My friend is getting into reloading and he said that he is only going to use steel bullets. I believe he is talking about steel cores and copper jackets. I was not aware that they made these and I just read through the sierra and horady sites looking for them.
I know his master plan is to load ammo and sell it. I think we all know that it will not be profitable unless he plans on producing a high quality ammo and lots of it. I know he was not talking about a steel case. So do steel bullets in a .223/5.56 exist? |

steel core bullets. ie. AP bullets are usually made of them. and bullets that are hard metal are coated in copper or soft metal to have a smooth ride down the bore. copper is harder than lead as to retain its shape and not vaporize at extremely high speeds or temps.
try and put a slightly oversized steel piston in your steel engine block w no oil and light it up, usually ends up no pretty. and in todays market if he can get components at a normal price he can probably turn quite a profit. so yes bullets are made in .224 that have steel cores. |

So do steel bullets in a .223/5.56 exist? Is he planning on getting proper insurance and licensing to sell this ammo? As far as the bullets being steel, I would imagine he is referring to steel jacketed/copper washed bullets like you find in some commie ammo. |

High speed reloading equipment is also usually a requirement to make any money. http://www.camdexloader.com/ And those are SMALL machines. |
