So I blew through the HUGE crowd at the local shop this weekend to grab a few things, one of which was some case lube.  I've been using Hornady One Shot forever and it works great,  I grab a can of one shot that was in the exact same place as they usually are and got out of the chaos.  I get home and just loaded up 100 rounds and for some reason, the resizing was very smooth.  So I look at the can of One Shot that I picked up and it's got a new label.  But it's not labeled case lube, it's labeled gun cleaner.  Ugh.  Case Lube versus Gun Cleaner

Is there a harm using this for case resizing?  Can I leave it on the finished rounds like the regular one shot?

IF it were me............

I'd clean my dies and oil them down to prevent rust after use.

As for your loaded ammo.........check if there is ammonia in the formula.........ammonia isn't good for your cases.  Then, I'd wipe off the ammo........"just to be sure" (of whatever other possibly harmful chemicals that might be in your "cleaner").

Then, go back and buy the REAL lube of your choice.

Aloha, Mark

PS.........I always clean off the lube from my cases prior to shooting.  I want them clean (of grit and grime) and dry.

I would also be concerned about what the lube/cleaner did to the powder in the cases. Might be ok over the short term but what about long term. I suppose it would have to do with how much came in contact with the powder. Unless you cleaned the cases after sizing and before charging.

You are one of the few of us who don't seem to have a problem with One Shot. Good luck with your present situation.

Sounds like you used the Gun cleaner/Gun lube in the black can rather than the orange can. have a can of Gun lube but never tried it on cases (and never will). You probably need to clean the cases more than usual.

With one shot I never clean the cases as they say it's not nessecary with that product.  I didn't spooge it on line crazy so I don't think there's a puddle of lube/cleaner in the round mixed with the powder.

I'll contact Hornady and see what they say and maybe have to pull these 100 rounds, toss the powder and retumble them at the worst case.

Let us know what Hornady says. I personally would shoot them and not worry about it too much. Like you said, just clean them up or do a short tumble on them. I never clean my brass lubed with the One Shot case lube either, one of the purposes of using it. Not greasy like others and works good, at least for me. For small batches or other than 223 rifle rounds, You still cant beat Imperial.

No ingredients listed on the packages but just about every warning and the directions are the same on both packages.  Both smell the same but the gun cleaner feels a little more slippery.  I'm hoping that it's practically the same stuff but I'll check with Hornady and report back.

Called Hornady.  They said the 2 products are chemically identical.  The only difference is that the case lube has a little more of the dyna glide in it.  The worst they said would happens is you'd get more stuck cases  by using the black label gun cleaner.
