I have ran into a problem with some of my brass. I started experiencing a few fail-to-feed jams in my .45acp pistols- a Springfield Loaded and a Kimber Warrior. It was the same problem. The round would not chamber fully. A good hit on the rear of the slide would usually work.I checked my loads and all showed to be in spec.
This started after I began picking up brass at my local PDs range. I did notice that some of the brass had some "gunk" on it even after tumbling. I am thinking the crud on the brass and a tight chanber caused the jam. I can't swear to it but it seems like that brass is the only brass that caused the jam- other loaded OK.
The crud looks like it might be dirt or something that got stuck on the case, and my vibrating tumbler won't clean it. I use corncob media.

Is there a way to clean that stuff without actually wiping each case? I have several 5 gallon buckets of brass and that is a lot of wiping. Is there something I can add to the media or something I can do before tumbling?

Thanks,
Jim

I've had I think solvent get on cases, causes a little spot of corrosion.  When you toss it in the tumbler, it picks up tumbler crap and it won't come off without some elbow grease.

AeroE   says to use Lemshine and water.

Get it at Wally world near the dish washing detergent.

Mix a little in water, stir every once and a while, or put in a sealed bottle and shake. What I did.

Let my very tarnished 7.62 x 39 cases that had already been through the tumbler soak for a day and a half.

They came out clean, but off color, kinda copper looking. Dried them and re tumbled. Came out beautiful.

Well it works to get the really "backed on stuff" off, so give it a try.

get a dillion case gauge if it fits it will work on your guns if not it may help you figure out why, I had a problem like yours and I was NOT removeing the Bell from exspanding enough.

That was one of the first things I checked. My Dillon SDB bells just enough to let me seat the LSWC bullet. I checked the dimensions before and after each stage. My taper crimp die isn't doing anything at all. The case with the seated bullet is tight enough after seating that the crimp die doesn't actually do anything.
