I plan to get some of my lead out of the berms where I shoot.
Should I wash the dirt off of the lead (and dry of course) before melting it down or just skim it off as dross?

I like to get the majority of the crap off before melting. I smelted about 22 lbs this morning, but it was mostly recovered after the snow melted, so it was not very dirty.
