what does your manual say? what is good for mine does not mean it is good for all. but to answer your question, should be.

Should be OK, but the best way to know is work up from the starting load, watching for pressure signs.

I also have two 16" 223 uppers.

The data I'm using shows a max charge of 27.0 gr BLC2 for a 55 gr FMJBT.

When I worked up this load, I got pressure signs with the 27.0 gr load in my guns.

So I dropped back to 26.5 gr which was more accurate anyway.

I use LC brass trimmed to 1.750, Win SR or Wolf SRM primers, bullet seated to mid cannelure, and lightly crimped with a Lee FCD.

Here is the Link to Hodgdons web site.

Always confirm load data you get from the internet.

Good luck.

I loaded about 100 rounds with 25.5 grain which is the starting load.  I am going to load about 30 rounds at 26 gr and leave it at that for now.  I am using mixed brass which had already been loaded about 6 times.  I've gone through each case using the 'sharpened wire' method to check for any case head issues.  Ended up throwing out any that didn't pass my criteria.  because the brass has been loaded so many times I just want a plinking round that will allow the gun to function.  Not to concerend with accuracy past 25 yards for this batch.

I use 26.5gr BLC2 with 55gr bullets, works the best for me out of my 16 and 20 in AR's I try to make them both happy so I don't have ammo dependent guns.
