It's useful.  The results are estimations, so caution is needed to implement.  The inputs such as case volume for interior ballistics are important for a glimmer of validity.

It's not a substitute for published load data based on testing.  Testing trumps estimates.

Hence filling a measuring a case filled with deionized water.....have you used it? looking for realworld results.  Guys I know swear by it, just looking for some more feed back.

We've found Quickload to be quite accurate and an excellent tool.

I used the program, but I don't own a copy.  I keep procrastinating about ordering a copy for myself.

I have learned more messing around with QL then any manual out there.  The limiting factor with books is that loads are very conservative and are based on the publishers gun.  Books do not list all the powders and bullets that can be used in a particular caliber.  QL pushes out data according to your gun and your load.  Comparing to a chrony, it has always been within 10-20FPS.

You can buy 5 or 6 load manuals, or buy QL once and have just about any caliber, any bullet, any powder at your fingertips.

I'm using version 3.2. With propper case capacity inputs it is amazingly close to my chrono results.

It's useful for giving estimates of what to expect from the chrono. I would never use it to work up a load outside of published data.

I use Quickload and am very happy with my results.  It's handy to have accurate velocity expectations when developing loads for shorter barrels, I have a .243 Ruger Frontier with a 16.5" barrel the published data gives velocity for 22"+ barrels so I use Quickload to get my estimate.  I also shoot at an indoor range with a 800 FPS limit so I use Quickload to develop my 750 FPS or so loads and I know I'm going to be under the max FPS for the indoor range.  I have compared actual chrono results on all my loads to the estimate in Quickload and the worst I've been off is 50 FPS, the average is usually with in 10-20 FPS.   If you can afford the extra $150 for reloading info I'd say go for it, the bullet and powder lists are amazing.

On some of my loads, like the 75gr .223's, QL is dead on to what I've measured with my chrono.   With others, like one of my 55gr loads, it is 200 fps off.  It seems a lot more useful than not, though, and I'm quite happy with it.

I downloaded the demo while back.  Some of the results in the demo were difficult to interpret, I guess.
In the interest of demo-ing the accuracy what did you predict for my .243 starter I listed in the ".243 data needed" thread?
