I am about to buy 16lbs of powder, but they don't have Ramshot TAC that I usually use.  What would be the best overall powder to buy out of the following:

H335
H322
W748
AA2230

It will mainly be 55gr-75gr 223 for my AR, but could also be for 40gr 22-250.  I also reload 30-30, 7 mag, 243 but those aren't as big of a concern to me... mainly reloading for the AR.

Thanks for any input.

I have good results with H335 in .223 with lighter bullets, not so much with the 75's. W748 works well also.

In 223 I have used H-335, W-748 and AA-2230 with 55 and 62 gr bullets. All worked fine, don't know about the heavier bullets.

For 55gr H335 works well in mine but AA2230 tends to have a broader range of loads that produce tight groups and I generally get more velocity in the sweet spot with AA2230.  Either of these should perform well.

With that wide of a weight range I would go for 748 , it's Winchesters one stop shopping powder for .223.

Here's my input for the most accurate in my AR's

55gr FMJ  H335 25gr.  Plinking load (M$ 16")

60gr HP H335 25gr.  Coyote load (16" Sweet 16)

68gr BTHP Match 23gr AA2460 ( 24" Stag Varmint)

Your results will very.

Probably the best way to choose would be to..............

Pick up 1 pound each............

Then, test them w/ your rifles in the various calibers.

THEN.........buy in bulk, the power that YOU liked the best.   You may have to compromise. That's life.

ME.......I don't have that much indecision in my life.

I would have just picked up an 8 pound keg of W748 and not look back.

At least I know it works for ME in .308 Winchester and .223 Rem.

I know that it may not be THE BEST choice.  Because, everyone has their own favorites and opinion(s).

I realize that.............and I can dig it.

Life goes on.

Aloha, Mark
