I was testing out a new load today and this was my max, 24grs. Ramshot X-Terminator, Hornady 55gr FMJBT, CCI#41 and LC once fired brass. No pierced primers but they look a little flat.
My normal load is 23.5grs but the cases were a little "sooty" so I figured I would go alittle higher at 23.7 and 24.
At 24 they were still "sooty"
So what do you think, too much pressure?

Be cautious
looks somewhat hot to me considering you are useing CCI 41s

Hot.  I can see ejector marks in some of the cases, but not nearly as distinct as I've seen elsewhere.

My sweet spot was around 24.3 with your exact same components with no pressure signs.

What rifle are you putting them through?

How can you distinguish newer ejector marks versus ones from previous firing?

The distinct dots are a code to record manufacturing information.  I can see only one ejector mark; those run off the edge of the head.  The indication is very slight and I see no sign of smearing or bending by the ejector.

Mushroomed-flat primers

Ejector marks on case heads

Sooty means nothing, especially with ball powders.

How much did you set back the shoulders?

I think he was asking how you can tell if that ejector mark is from this firing or another.

My answer, I don't think you can. I guess next time you load to check for pressure signs, inspect the brass before and after shooting so you know for sure.

Rifle is a Rock River lower with a Model 1 Sales M4 parts kit I put together a couple years ago.
Don't know about the shoulders as I don't have the Stoney Point gauge, I used a Dillon case gauge to set the die.
I'll back it down to 23.5
