| Is there any reason a guy needs a second press on his bench ? |
| I got into my first 550b for a great deal and found an even better deal on the second one and bought it with every intention of keeping it. When I realized I had powder measures, dies and toolheads for every caliber and the only thing that would take me any amount of time to change was the primers from small to large I sold it. I just couldn't justify having $400 worth of press sitting on my bench because I'm too lazy to switch out the primer setup. It's one of the few gun-related sales I've made that I would do all over again, considering I scored about $300 worth of accessories and still sold the press for about $150 more than what I paid for the entire package. |

I had a second one for a while- a pure luxury just because I came across a used one for relatively cheap.
Ended up selling cheap to a friend after i picked up a 650 with all kinds of accesories. So now i have a 550 and a 650. 550 gets the 44mag and 45-70; 650 gets the volume calibers. |
| I got my second 550 press used and relatively cheap so I went for it and had no regrets. Then I got a nice cheap used 650 and then another one and again no regrets running two of the same press. Now I have a 1050....still waiting on finding a second one.....for cheap!! Can't say I would have ever had doubles of the presses if it weren't for the fact I got them for the prices I did though despite the fact I large quantities of various calibers. As is now, I have the original 550 and the 1050. |

I'm constantly looking for a cheap 550B (or even a 450) to have set up for large primers. Until then, I"ll use my Lee Classic Turret for those. They are lower volume anyway.
(I loaded a bunch of .44 magnum rounds recently on the Classic Turret, I had forgotten how well it works. It is nowhere near the 550B, but it is much quicker than a single stage.) |
