Is there any reason a guy needs a second press on his bench ?

I got into my first 550b for a great deal and found an even better deal on the second one and bought it with every intention of keeping it.  When I realized I had powder measures, dies and toolheads for every caliber and the only thing that would take me any amount of time to change was the primers from small to large I sold it.  I just couldn't justify having $400 worth of press sitting on my bench because I'm too lazy to switch out the primer setup.  It's one of the few gun-related sales I've made that I would do all over again, considering I scored about $300 worth of accessories and still sold the press for about $150 more than what I paid for the entire package.

I had a second one for a while- a pure luxury just because I came across a used one for relatively cheap.

Ended up selling cheap to a friend after i picked up a 650 with all kinds of accesories.  So now i have a 550 and a 650.  550 gets the 44mag and 45-70; 650 gets the volume calibers.

That's where I'm at too cheap to pass up . I couldn't think of why a second one is needed.

One set up for 223 case head and the other for 308 case heads.  Or set one up for 9mm and the other for 45.

Only have one 550.

I do have two SDB's, one for 357, one for 45 ACP.

No swapping.....anything.

550b and a 450

550b is for reloading

450 is for 223 case prep (re size, deprime,  and trimming).

It is nice to be able to case prep a few hundred at a time instead of all at once, and still do reloading of other calibers.

I got my second 550 press used and relatively cheap so I went for it and had no regrets.  Then I got a nice cheap used 650 and then another one and again no regrets running two of the same press.  Now I have a 1050....still waiting on finding a second one.....for cheap!!  Can't say I would have ever had doubles of the presses if it weren't for the fact I got them for the prices I did though despite the fact I large quantities of various calibers.  As is now, I have the original 550 and the 1050.

I have two 550's  one set up for large primers and one for small.  Kind of a luxury but I load a lot of 45 acp  and 9mm.  Saves time, very convenient to just walk up to one or the other.

I'm constantly looking for a cheap 550B (or even a 450) to have set up for large primers. Until then, I"ll use my Lee Classic Turret for those. They are lower volume anyway.

(I loaded a bunch of .44 magnum rounds recently on the Classic Turret, I had forgotten how well it works. It is nowhere near the 550B, but it is much quicker than a single stage.)

Funny, I was thinking the other day that there was no reason NOT to have a second press on my bench...

(But I am still looking for a cheap one good deal on one)

I have two––my original and another I bought for $50 (hard to pass up, especially considering all the tool heads and accessories that came with it).  I am lazy about changing primer feeds, so it's nice to have one machine for large and one for small.

Edit:  BTW, if you forget which is which and fill the large primer feed with small primers it is a PITA to deal with.

This is a good enough reason for me. The gent wants 250.00 for the complete setup for 45 acp ? He's bringing it by tonight.
The wife is going to kill me

Well if the wife kills you make sure you tell her I'll pay $250 plus shipping to MO and she can go buy a new purse or something in your last breath

If I put another press next to my 550 it will be a 650.

I bought it. It has some light surface rust and needs some plastic parts replaced but the ram feels tight. Now I need to hide that ATM slip.

Box it up and ship it to Dillon.  You'll get it back looking like new.
