I purchased a used pro 1000 set up for .38 special and I want to set it up to reload .223.  I went to the Lee website to order parts but I did not know what parts needed to be changed out.  If anybody has a pro 1000 set up for .223 I need a few close up pictures to help me out.  I would really appreciate it.   Thank you for your time.

Good luck, this will get you back to the top.

A Lee guy will be by soon.

easiest way.

go here and select the shell plate carrier, case feeder and the add a set of .223 dies. (I think)

You might also call Lee precision and they can tell you better.

I use three LEE M1000 progressive presses.  They are all in pistol calibers (straight walled brass).  I've no experience with a LEE Pro (later version of the LEE M1000).  And, that goes for using one in a rifle caliber (bottle necked cases).

IMHO......the fastest/best answer would be to call LEE.  Hey, you gotta order from them to get parts anyway.

Off hand I could imagine...........

shell plate
case feeder block if the .38 special one wasn't right
LEE dies in .223 Rem w/powder drop (comes with the set, other brands won't have it)
double stack powder disk measure (for more variations of powder throwing)

That may be it.

Truthfully........IF I was gonna shoot up and use a lot of  .38 Special at some point in my life.  I'd buy another machine for the .223 Rem.  Cause, it's so much easier to just switch the machines on the bench.  Rather than to play with a conversion and settings.   But, that's ME.......I'm lazy.

Aloha, Mark

PS.........I like to load rifle cartridges on a single stage press........that's ME.

Thanks for the info Mark.  I just could pass it up since the press was so cheap.  I was originally going to buy the Lee Breech kit, but everything was on back order on Midway.  The funny thing is I don't even own a .38 special and the Lee Breech kit became available the day after I bought the pro1000 on the EE.  I guess the means another handgun purchase.  Thank you guys for the help.
