I'm in an apartment and space is limited.
I'm considering a Lee Turrent press set-up and wondered if anyone has used one of these or had any input, thanks. Workmate |
| I have no experience with this Workmate, but when I was in an apartment, I mounted the press to a thick piece of plywood and clamped it to the kitchen table. I have seen other people use the Workmate with no trouble. Nice thing about the plywood/clamp is that it can be removed and put in the closet when not in use. and doesn't take up as much room as the Workmate. |
| It may be too wide for a 2X4, but what about a 2X6 or 2X8? As long as you can secure it with the Workmate's clamping parts, it should work fine. You may need to do something to weigh down the "bench top" that results from this, or your press will be a bit unstable. I have a cheap knock-off clone of a Workmate that I turned into a "folding bench" for some loading processes, and it works adequately except for the tendency to move around a little unless I put some serious weight on it. |

I started reloading w/a cheapo Lee single stage, bolted to a 2X4, clamped to a folding saw horse. It's maybe 6 inches wide at the deepest, maybe 3.5 feet up w/legs folded. I only reloaded pistol so it didn't need a lot of force.
I used it for about 4 years; still have it! |
